John Niehuss is a multi-disciplinary creative leader and technologist with over 15 years of experience at the center of art, engineering, narrative, design, and development. With a focus on spatial computing, immersive experiences, and XR, he has spent the last 5 years as a designer, Art Director, and Creative Director at Meta’s Reality Labs, ensuring that emerging products, prototypes, and experiences meet the high-quality bar that users expect.
Previously, John spent over a decade in the rendered-content space, creating, building, leading, and pitching both offline and real-time 3D at VFX studios like Digital Domain and agencies like Buck. His career highlights include contributing to feature films like "Tron: Legacy" and "Oblivion" and creating viral 3D content viewed by millions before working with top brands like Apple, Google, and Meta to pioneer innovative AR and VR projects.
John has been privileged to collaborate with, lead, and learn from some of the top minds in the creative-tech space. His technical production experience, traditional visual design expertise, product-centric thinking and institutional know-how fuel his passion for collaborating across disciplines to push the boundaries of design-driven storytelling and immersive tech to build engaging visions, experiences, and prototypes that create lasting impact.
